About Junior League Cricket (JLC)
Junior League Cricket (JLC) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2022 by cricket enthusiasts based in North Carolina with a shared vision: to build a safe, inclusive, and well-governed platform for youth cricket in the United States.
JLC was created to provide young athletes with an environment where the focus remains on player development, enjoyment of the game, and personal growth—free from politics, favoritism, or external agendas that do not serve youth sports.
Our Vision
To make Junior League Cricket a nationally trusted youth cricket organization, known for its integrity, safety, and simplicity—helping cricket achieve long-term, sustainable growth across the United States.
Our Mission
To promote and govern youth cricket through structured programs that prioritize safety, inclusivity, integrity, and community-led growth, while empowering local regions to operate within a consistent national framework.
Commitment to Player Safety & Respect
Junior League Cricket maintains a zero-tolerance approach to conduct that threatens the physical or emotional well-being of children.
We are committed to:
- Providing a safe playing environment free from racial slurs, bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind
- Enforcing strict codes of conduct for players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators
- Requiring background checks for coaches, officials, and volunteers, with regular updates and compliance monitoring
- Promoting respect, sportsmanship, and accountability both on and off the field
Safeguarding children is a core responsibility, not an afterthought, and is embedded into all JLC programs and governance policies.
National Framework, Regional Leadership
Junior League Cricket operates under a national–regional model that balances consistency with local autonomy.
JLC invites U.S. states and regions to organize youth leagues and tournaments under the Junior League Cricket brand. These efforts are led by JLC State or Regional Committees, which are granted operational flexibility to serve their local communities.
All regional committees are required to:
- Operate in compliance with the JLC Constitution, By-Laws, and Safeguarding Policies
- Uphold JLC standards related to child safety, conduct, and inclusivity
- Maintain neutrality and keep politics out of youth cricket
- Remain accountable to the JLC Governing Body
This structure ensures that youth cricket remains community-driven, safe, and principled, while maintaining national alignment.
Our Values
- Youth First: The safety and development of children always come first
- Respect: Zero tolerance for racism, bullying, or harassment
- Integrity: Transparent governance and ethical leadership
- Neutrality: Youth cricket should unite communities, not divide them
- Community Empowerment: Local leadership supported by national standards
Our Founding Philosophy
Junior League Cricket (JLC) was formed in 2022 by cricket enthusiasts based in North Carolina, inspired by the same foundational principles that have made organizations like Little League Baseball a trusted and enduring model for youth sports in the United States.
At its core, JLC believes that youth cricket should be:
- Child-centered and development-focused
- Community-led, but nationally governed
- Safe, inclusive, and free from politics
- Consistent in standards, yet simple to operate
While cricket in the U.S. has often lacked a unified and accessible youth pathway, Junior League Cricket was created to provide a more streamlined, trustworthy, and transparent structure—one that families, volunteers, and local organizers can rely on.
Building Cricket the Right Way in the United States:
Our long-term vision is to help cricket grow in the United States the same way other successful youth sports have grown—from the ground up, through well-run local leagues connected by a common national framework.
Junior League Cricket is committed to:
- Establishing clear governance, rules, and age-group formats
- Empowering local communities to lead, while maintaining national oversight
- Prioritizing player safety, safeguarding, and ethical conduct
- Creating a recognizable and trusted youth cricket pathway across the country
We are not building cricket for a few elite programs. We are building it for families, schools, volunteers, and communities—so that cricket can become a familiar, accessible, and respected youth sport throughout the USA.
